The Problem

Silence isn't a strategy when the plant is calling.

Every supplier serving OEM assembly plants faces the same four pressure points. One missed response can change a relationship for years.

Customer escalation in motion

An OEM plant called with a quality concern. Every minute without a response increases the risk of scorecard damage, controlled shipping, or lost trust.

Your team is hours — or oceans — away

You don't have a full-time rep at every plant you serve. When parts are at the customer right now, distance becomes the most expensive part of your supply chain.

Line disruption costs are mounting

The plant won't wait 24 hours for an answer. Production decisions are being made about your part without your voice in the room.

Launch chaos before SOP

New program ramp-up. Engineering changes. Containment events. The exact moments your customer is forming a long-term opinion of you.

The Solution

IDS becomes your eyes, ears, and voice — at the customer plant.

We're not a sorting agency. We're an automotive quality liaison and supplier representation company. When your customer raises a concern, we're already on the floor — credible, technical, and accountable.

  • Established plant relationships so concerns reach IDS first, before escalation
  • Quality liaisons, engineers, and inspectors who speak the customer's language
  • Same-day response in major automotive corridors (Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, KY/TN/AL/SC)
  • Real-time reporting back to your team — photos, quantities, customer feedback
  • Containment, sorting, rework coordination organized around the plant's clock
  • 20 years of OEM environment experience supporting 60+ OEMs worldwide

FAQ

Common questions

What exactly does an automotive quality liaison do?

An IDS quality liaison is the supplier's on-site representative at the OEM customer plant. They open communication with plant personnel, investigate quality concerns at the point of use, coordinate containment or sorting if needed, document findings with photos and quantities, and report back to the supplier — all in real time. The goal is to prevent escalation, protect the customer relationship, and keep production moving.

How fast can IDS get someone to a plant?

In major automotive corridors (Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina), same-day response is available in most cases. Exact timing depends on plant location, access requirements, and current coverage. For active emergencies, we open customer communication immediately while qualified support is dispatched.

Do we have to commit to a long-term contract?

No. IDS supports both short-term emergency engagements (a single plant visit, one shift of containment, a launch-week presence) and long-term resident liaison arrangements. Many clients start with an urgent issue and grow the engagement as trust develops.

We're an overseas supplier — can IDS represent us in North America?

Yes. IDS supports suppliers from Europe, Asia, South Africa, South America, and beyond. We act as your local, English-fluent, OEM-protocol-trained customer representative at North American plants — eliminating time-zone delays and providing a credible voice when distance is otherwise the bottleneck.

Is IDS a sorting agency?

No. IDS is a quality liaison and supplier representation company. Sorting, inspection, and containment are services we coordinate when needed — but the core offering is plant-facing representation, relationship management, and emergency response. Many sorting agencies don't have plant relationships, technical depth, or customer-communication discipline. That's the difference.

Can IDS support a new program launch?

Yes — launch support is one of our core service areas. New model introductions, engineering changes, and ramp-up periods are exactly when supplier reputation is being formed at the customer. IDS provides daily plant presence, customer-facing communication, and issue response during these high-pressure windows.

What information do you need on the first call?

Customer/OEM plant, supplier name, part number, program, issue description, suspected defect, quantity affected, location of material, current line status, plant contact, access requirements, and any photos or customer notices. Don't worry if you don't have everything — we'll work through it on the call.

How does pricing work?

Pricing depends on scope: hours of coverage, shifts required, location, urgency, and whether the engagement is one-time, project-based, or resident. We provide clear quotes after the triage call. For active emergencies, we get someone moving first and finalize commercial terms within the engagement.

Plant just called. What now?

Don't waste the first hour searching for help. Call IDS — we'll triage, open customer communication, and get qualified support moving.
